You're Probably Thinking...

Why Africa? Why not just help your local community and the people who are facing problems in your very backyard? Well, my dear friends, we are more than prepared to answer your question!  Here at KUPATIA, we feel that everyone is tasked with the duty to take part somewhere and contribute their effort to bettering just a little bit of the world. One of the largest factors that pushed us to choose to help the girls in Kenya is the fact that our very own Rosslyn happens to come from there herself. Now let me tell you just a little bit about Rosslyn: She is one of the strongest and most hard-working women that we girls at KUPATIA have had the privilege of knowing, and she has done more for each one of us than we can ever imagine. Being that she has been working behind the scenes in our respective lives, and making sure that all goes right for many, many years now, we feel that we owe it to her to do something that would help her and make her happy. As a young girl growing up in Muranga, Rosslyn, herself, witnessed the harsh conditions on the tea plantations as it was a way for her to do her part in contributing to her family. Since she knows firsthand what this type of labor requires, the girls who now work the plantations hold a special place in her heart. This fact inspired the idea to try and help these Kenyan girls. But as soon we met the girls ourselves, an overwhelming urge came over us to do everything and anything to better their situation and if that gives Rosslyn any sort of happiness, well that's just the cherry on top of a sundae.
